New Dutch Association shows hypocrisy from our Town Hall

From the Committee

We are delighted to see the announcement on the Town Hall website and various Facebook pages that almost 500 Dutch Residents have created another Association in Benitachell.

The Town Hall state that “The Government Team has expressed support for initiatives of association and citizen participation in the municipality”.

Councillor Rheindorf also states that “As councillor for Residents of a multicultural town we support all initiatives of associations arising from foreign residents because their assistance is essential to create a more United, more participatory and pluralistic society together”

This is just not the truth in Benitachell.

It is a disgrace in Benitachell and here is the proof. Our fully legal Association had to go to the Valencian Ombudsman (Sindic de Greuges) because our Alcalde and his Government refuse to meet, communicate or recognise our legally registered Association. The Ombudsman supported our complaints and requested the Alcalde to adhere to the law. The Alcalde told the Ombudsman last July that he would accept yet still refuses to meet, communicate or recognise us. We have again returned to the Ombudsman and they will be raising another complaint against this Alcalde and his Government.

We legally represent 11 nationalities, including several Dutch and several hundred individual and affiliate members on Cumbre del Sol. We are excluded from the Town Hall because we refuse to give up our rights to question or challenge this government.

We would welcome your feedback.
